FAQs

WHAT DOES IV STAND FOR?

IV is short for intravenous (in the vein).  At IV Health we provide hydration and nutrient administration intravenously.  This allows us to hydrate you more effectively and efficiently than if you were to just drink water and also deliver vitamins and nutrients directly into your bloodstream.

WHY ADMINISTER VITAMINS AND MINERALS IV?

IV Health specialises in intravenous and booster vitamin and mineral therapies that may support your body to function at its peak!   IV therapy is a method to quickly administer fluids, vitamins, and minerals directly into the bloodstream. By going directly into the bloodstream.  Our IV therapies are meant to act as supplements and not to replace oral hydration or a well balanced diet.

IV vitamin therapy is the process of administering a mixture of essential vitamins and minerals to your body through a drip.  These minerals carry energy boosters and health supplements you need to get out of your health slump. Your body will quickly absorb these nutrients into your bloodstream, boosting your immune system and supporting your better health.

Did you know that only a limited amount of vitamins and minerals we ingest from either food or supplements get absorbed?  The remainder are excreted in our urine or might pass through unabsorbed!  Intravenous vitamin therapy infuses the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants directly into the bloodstream. Once in your bloodstream they are transported straight to the cells where they act immediately.

IV administration bypasses the digestive system which allows for maximum absorption of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants & fluids added to the drip!

IS IT SAFE?

All our vitamins and minerals are medical grade approved and go through high levels of testing. All therapies are administered by trained Registered Nurses after consultation with a doctor.  Remember, everything should be in moderation, even things that are good for you.   In fact, we go that extra mile to ensure your safety by only using IV fluid bags that are BPA, PVC & DEHP-Free.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFECTS?

On occasions, you may experience some discomfort, bruising, itching, inflammation, or redness at or around the site of injection, and this could last from a few minutes to several days.  If you have previously experienced symptoms associated with an allergic reaction during an infusion please let our medical team know prior to any infusion being commenced.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

If you haven’t visited IV Health before, you will need an initial assessment with a nurse and doctor, this will take around 30 minutes. The actual infusion time depends on the individual, the contents of the infusion and the amount of fluid required.

Sometimes we can give you the same vitamins and minerals in smaller fluid amounts if you are short on time – this is called our Mini Drip.

HOW QUICKLY WILL I FEEL THE BENEFITS OF THE INFUSION?

Generally, the more deficient you are the quicker the effect although everyone is different.   Sometimes effects can be instantaneous and sometimes you can wake the next day feeling refreshed and ready to face the day.   For others it can take a few days to a week, or it may take a few infusions before you feel any benefit however, you may not feel anything at all, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t getting any benefits.

Clients sometimes comment that they felt no or limited benefit after their first infusion however, it is important to understand that the first infusion is the foundation to building a preventative approach.  When people are in pain, they are motivated to act, when the pain goes away, they forget all about it.  At IV Health we don’t want people to wait until they become unwell to seek therapies that may support their body to function at its peak.  We love it when we see people being proactive in their own health and wellbeing journey.

It’s a bit like going to Pilates to improve your flexibility once and expect to be able to have the flexibility of someone who has been doing Pilates for years – it’s something you should consider as a lifestyle.

HOW LONG DO THE BENEFITS LAST?

This depends on the individual and their overall health.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE AN INFUSION?

This is completely up to you. After your initial consultation, the doctor will not only make a recommendation on the type of infusion and vitamins that may benefit you based on your history, but also how often you should consider having it.  It’s important to note that the frequency of IV therapy/boosters are determined on a client-by-client basis.  We take a customized approach to suit your individual needs.   For preventative health and wellness, 1-2 drips per month maybe recommended to help balance out any vitamin deficiencies, sometimes an infusion every couple of months is recommended once a certain level of health has been achieved – it’s very much based on the individual and what they are trying to achieve from a health and wellness perspective.

WHAT INFUSION IS BEST FOR ME?

Our doctor will make recommendations on the type of infusion/boosters you could consider after your initial consultation however, if you chose to not have all that is recommended that is perfectly fine – the choice is yours.  What will be recommended depends on what is happening with you and your wellness and what your health goals are.   Our nurses will talk you through the options, we have a varied list of hydration IV’s, Vitamin IV’s, minerals, and boosters.
